If you'd be looking for a few more fun tracks for that family party, then hooyoosay have them!
First, their new single, "Don't you lie to me", breathes comedy, cartoons, crazy movies and video games.
The intro grabs attention straight away, with its bizarre chiptune riff that sounds like an electronic super kazoo.
The vocals are quirky and cartoony, and the playful spirit is confirmed further on by an amusing toy organ solo, almost like saying "Me? Lie? Oh no, ... not really".
It's an eccentric but easy going cocktail of a modern beat and a polka bass in and a standard 12-bar rock 'n' roll scheme, and quite reminiscent of europop in the early days of MTV.
Actually "Don't you lie to me" is in origin an old blues song, written by Hudson Whittaker.
Did you say "blues", ... for a fun song?!?
Sure! These old blues lyrics often did have an underlying sense of humor! Really.
Next, the EP release offers the additional track "Yooplaaa!", which is an unpretentious and happy instrumental that urges everyone and anyone to get up and join the fun, wherever or whatever that is!
Sounding like a circus or carnival parade tune, it also echoes triumph in some odd arcade game and it radiates celebration and festivity.
It could be the theme for a comedy series or a cheerful children's TV show, or it could simply be a totally carefree party track.
Goofy and campy, "Yooplaaa!" is for that moment when you let go the strain and stop being serious about everything that is serious!
There's no ambition here to be the hottest or the heaviest, but simply to establish that feelgood atmosphere that lets you relax.
This is zumba and fiesta, this is a summer BBQ and a winter après-ski, this is happy birthday and a happy new year.
This is light entertainment party music for all ages and for all occasions.
And by the way, hooyoosay's "Yooplaaa!" makes a terrific ringtone too!
